An Indian Summer? Misty sunrises; clear, sunny blue skies; cooler evenings with spectacular sunsets... Autumn weather can be nicer than the middle of July or August! And if some wintry storms do come through, what could be nicer than snuggling up to the log-burner at Southclay or The Annex for the first of the season's cosy log fires or chasing falling leaves as they swirl in the wind? A glorious, colourful Fall? The trees and hedgerows in North Devon flame with vivid colour to rival any in the USA.

Autumn Break

North Devon in all its glory is delightful in Autumn with a little more space on the roads, on the beaches and at our visitor attractions as soon as the schools go back. The Southwest Coastal Footpath, The Tarka Trail or The Two Moors Way linking Dartmoor and Exmoor will challenge everyone to get outside at this wonderful time of year to enjoy walking or cycling some of our footpaths and bridleways. A glorious, colourful Fall? The trees and hedgerows in North Devon flame with vivid colour to rival any in the USA.

The sea is at its warmest in the Autumn, usually a really warm 17 - 18 degrees and Southclay Holidays always keep the pool heated until October (many years until the end of October half term) so there is no excuse not to swim a couple of times a day at this time of year... A sunset swim or surf, when the sea has come in over the warm sand at Westward Ho! is magical.

With so much Autumn entertainment and so many festivals for locals and visitors to North Devon to enjoy: the Appledore Book Festival; the North Devon Art Trek; the Cider Festival and Apple Festivals at RHS Rosemoor; The Two Moors Festival... and lots more! there is just too much to cram in before October Half Term!
