Spring Break / Easter in North Devon

Spring is such a season of promise and a fabulous time to enjoy being out in the countryside, walking in the woods or on the beach. 

Primroses line the banks of the road through the village every Spring and carpet all our local woodland but also spectacular (depending on the month you visit) are Snowdrop Valley (February), Combe Wild Daffodils (March) and Brownsham Bluebell Woods (April/May) are of which all close to these two holiday cottages Southclay (sleeps 10-12) and The Annex (sleeps 4-6) on the North Devon Coast near Bideford. The South West coastal footpath is full of spring treasures, the fields surrounding the properties are filled with new-born lambs and bird song fills the air.

Visitors can hand feed the lambs at the tourist attraction the other side of the village, The Big Sheep and it is particularly famous for its Easter Egg Hunt which takes place every day throughout the Easter Holidays.

The weather can be delightful in the Spring and the sun loungers, barbecue, tennis court and the outdoor table tennis are often well used by Southclay and The Annex guests in February, March and April but the outdoor pool can be a little cool as the air-source heat pump is usually only switched on at Easter and (depending on the weather) can sometimes take a few weeks to reach optimum temperature.
