Southclay Blog, stay up to date with the latest news and offers

We want to be rated as 5 -star in every review, by all our guests. Low Season maintenance and a really good update each year is vital in maintaining high standards in holiday rentals. It is always a quite time of year in November and I simply couldn't wait for the Black Friday sales! I have ordered two new fridges and two new smart TVs for Southclay and The Annex. We are having the pool table slate re-covered in fresh baize, did some painting a couple of weeks ago... and had lovely new stair and landing carpets fitted today! IT'S LOOKING PRETTY GOOD FOR A DULL DAY IN NOVEMBER!

Brilliant Bonfire Night at The BIG Sheep

The annual bonfire party at The Big Sheep in Abbotsham, North Devon did not disappoint this year! Another HUGE bonfire, spectacular firework display and new "fire show" for 2019. The whole village and every road surrounding it was packed with cars last night as hundreds of visitors arrived to enjoy this seasonal treat. Southclay and The Annex's hill - top position ensured we could enjoy the fireworks without battling with the crowds this year. BUT the spectacular sunrise the next morning rivaled any of the spectacular fireworks!

He has promised me new kitchen worktops for The Annex and Southclay and new bedroom furniture for the purple twin ready for next season so all our guests should be able to admire some or his handiwork! Unfortunately family always have to wait till last...

September for Sunrise Yoga, Sunsets and Star-gazing!

September sunshine has been a delight! An Indian Summer? Certainly, a treat for our guests coming to stay for a late Summer/Autumn break. The middle of September was nicer than the middle of July or August this year! Clear, cloudless blue during the day and beautiful crystal-clear, star-lit skies at night. This September has been exceptional, the early morning, misty sunrises have tempted me out into the garden with my yoga mat and the sunsets have been extraordinary! Watching the sun fall into the sea at the end of the day or lying back in the hot tub with a glass of something cool whilst the sky is lit up then the stars come out makes me grateful to be alive. I LOVE September.
