Surfing or body-boarding at Westward Ho! in North Devon can be such an exhilarating experience! Westward Ho! is 5 miles of sandy beach, rarely with undercurrents or rip tide and heaps of space to swim, surf, kayak or kite surf!
A Sunday evening surf yesterday just before the water got to the pebble ridge and the sun went down was probably the perfect way to finish the weekend and brace for Monday morning.
The surf wasn't clean like the surfers prefer, the tide was too high for the kite surfers but the power behind some of the waves was certainly exhilerating. Steve and I try to make time to wild swim, preferably to play in the waves, throughout the year. In winter it may be a quick whizz in and out but it ALWAYS gets the heart pumping, the skin tingling and revives the soul!
We should swim in the sea every day! Perhaps that is what we can look forward to when we retire! Certainly we would recommend all our guests enjoy a dip in the sea whatever season they come and stay... A warm up in the hot tub is particularly good after a winter surf.
