I was SO PROUD to be at the North Devon Business Leisure and Tourism Awards this week with my husband Steve. Our business, (well his business really), Willoughby Ltd makes furniture from a base in South Molton and was presented with an award for the BEST MANUFACTURER IN NORTH DEVON! He has promised me new kitchen worktops for The Annex and Southclay and new bedroom furniture for the purple twin ready for next season so all our guests should be able to admire some or his handiwork! Unfortunately family always have to wait till last...
The North Devon Business, Leisure and Tourism Awards was a delightful black-tie evening with a wonderful three course dinner at Highbullen Hotel, Golf and Country Club, attended by over 200 representatives from local businesses. There was an award for the Accommodation Provider of the Year (won by North Hayne Farm Cottages) and it did make me wonder if I should put Southclay Holidays forward for it next year?
Guest speaker, Rick Turner from The Big Sheep (the family attraction at the bottom of our village infamous for its crazy sheep racing) talked about remembering to be grateful every day as one of the keys to feeling happier. I am really grateful I have such a fab husband - I just need to work out how to persuade him to spend less time at the factory and more time with me!
Quince Honey Farm won the Visitor Attraction of the Year AND the Outstanding Business of the Year as well. I know they have relocated their business to a completely new site and I have not visited for many years (since my girls were little-uns) so I will definitely try to visit them sometime very soon and will be recommending them to our guests!
