I am delighted to share with our holiday guests at The Annex (sleeps 4-6); a garden full of spring flowers, birdsong, and the promise of many hours of fun and laughter in the pool, hot tub and tennis court this summer. On a sunny morning the birds seemed to kick up a gear today and the light sparkled on the surface of the swimming pool. With Easter around the corner and our first guests of the season enjoying our wonderful facilities I feel optimistic for a good holiday season for the English self-catering industry.
During the Covid Pandemic many people remembered how wonderful it is to be able to enjoy the treats on our doorstep. What a green and pleasant land we live in and how much fun it is to have a traditional English get-away by the sea. No queues for airports or ferry terminals; no misunderstandings with the lingo; no changing currency, passports, roaming charges or foreign food! Indeed this week's guests, the lovely Mackay family changed their plans at the last minute and cancelled a trip to France to come to North Devon instead!
The lambs are frolicking in the fields (and at our local tourist attraction The BIG Sheep). Wild daffodils, wild garlic and primroses adorn the woods at the bottom of the valley with bluebells well on the way and the trees all bursting into leaf. No wonder the birds are singing - Spring makes us all want to sing! Thank goodness we can share it this year, the first Easter for three years with no lockdown!
HAPPY EASTER from us all at The Annex, North Devon
