Thoughtful Additions….

This property may have been awarded a 5 star grading, England’s highest award for self catering accommodation but there are many extras that even the most demanding guest may be surprised to find. The owners have tried to be creative in imagining what may make the difference between a lovely break and a particularly successful and memorable one.

The garage is home to many surprises from bike repair kit and pumps to wind breaks, surf boards, buckets and spades and crabbing lines. There is a small inflatable boat, kites, children’s tennis rackets, and even a portable barbeque to take down to the cliffs. An outside tap by the washing line is ideal for washing out wetsuits or rinsing off muddy or sandy gear and a selection of herbs in the herb garden by the garage are perfect for throwing straight on the barbeque or adding to marinades.

Fresh bread in the morning or to come home to after a day sightseeing? A lovely new bread machine is amongst the kitchen gadgets available for you to experiment with. The well equipped kitchen also includes a full set of stainless steel knives (and a sharpener!); a food processor and blender; silicone bake ware; cookery books, electric scales and a large selection of quality pots, pans, dishes and cooking utensils. Don’t worry…. for the lazy chef there is also a freezer, microwave and dishwasher!

A Winter warmer…

The House is perfect for winter breaks. There is full under floor heating throughout the house with individual thermostats in each room to keep the chills away between late autumn and spring.

Electricity and heating oil are included in the rent, a stack of wood for the wood-burning stove in the living room is provided, thereafter it is available at cost from Madeleine, the owners’ daughter.

At Christmas we’ll happily help you find a local tree for you to decorate with your own decorations or ours or install a tree ready with tasteful decorations and lights for instant Christmas cheer the minute you walk in the door. We can even take you for a walk to the woods to show you where the best holly and ivy can be cut.

Family Friendly

Many family friendly extras such as a cot, high chair and a stair gate are standard. We also provide children’s plastic cups, crockery and plastic glasses for use outside, in the hot tub and on picnics. A selection of children’s toys, books and games are also popular.

A huge library of brochures is provided to help you plan days out with the family in North Devon but The BIG Sheep tourist attraction with its large undercover play area; sheep racing; lamb feeding; laser shooting; brewery and LOADS more is just down the hill and the Extreme Adventure Centre with high ropes and mountain boarding suitable for older children is also at the bottom of the village.

Babysitting can be arranged if required.

A qualified chef living locally in the village will produce home cooked, often home grown or locally sourced, family friendly suppers or can do dinner party menus for a special occasion.
